ABOUT US

The Uganda Forex Bureau and Money Remittance Association currently has 106 members and all the Forex Bureaus and Money Transfer Operators are licensed and regulated by the Bank of Uganda.

The association is the voice of all the members and its main duty is to promote healthy dialogue, disseminate information and also enforce discipline and standards among the members and also in the forex bureau and money transfer market.

The Association gets together every year during the annual general meeting, giving the members an opportunity to interact with each other and share ideas and problems that they maybe facing in the forex industry.

Administration

The Association is administered through a Board of Director’s who are elected by the members of the Association every two years during the Annual General Meeting. The Association has a secretariat which is headed by the Secretary General who reports directly to the Board of Director’s.

Easier communication between forex bureaus and also between forex bureaus and Bank of Uganda and any other player in the forex market.

Sharing information plus other resources which will enhance the performance of the bureau like training programmes.

The Association insists on high ethical standards and integrity in operations which has enhanced the image of the forex bureaus.

The Association by acting as one body with one voice has improved bargaining power.

Through coordination and cooperation the association has made it possible for bureaus to enjoy the benefits of synergy as a result of resource sharing and out sourcing competencies.
